SCANCEL Examples

[1]

Goal:
To cancel the tenth job step of SLURM job 4321 (and release no resources), then cancel the entire job 4489 (and release its allocated resources).
Strategy:
Use a simple SCANCEL execute line with no options and a space-delimited list of jobs/steps to cancel.
User: scancel 4321.10 4489

[2]

Goal:
To cancel all pending SLURM jobs owned by you (here, user JFK) that were slated to run in the local PBATCH partition.
Strategy:
Use an SCANCEL filter option to impose each of the three conditions on job selection (their constraints are conjoined), then omit any overt list of jobs to signal. Remember, nonroot uses can only cancel their own jobs.
User: scancel --state=pending --user=jfk --partition=pbatch
