We advance HPC capabilities

We harness the power of high performance computing (HPC) through scalable, cost-effective, specialized environments from computers to buildings and facilities. Because computing is integral to most LLNL missions, we must predict and develop the HPC advances necessary to meet user needs. Livermore Computing is the home for the computational infrastructure that supports the advancement of HPC capabilities.

With guidance from the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration, we address multiple missions and security levels and strive to simultaneously make best use of today’s technology while aggressively pursuing future technologies. Partnering with other national labs, U.S. business and industry, and academia, we make unique and innovative computational solutions to national problems possible.

We embrace the idea that HPC propels scientific innovation and that infrastructure is key to technological advancement and economic growth. In 2011, we opened the High Performance Computing Innovation Center (HPCIC) as an outreach by LLNL to U.S. industry. The HPCIC offers industrial partners a formidable combination of computer resources and technical expertise.
