LLNL works with and contributes to many organizations outside of LLNL that complement our mission to solve global challenges and national security issues. We partner with federal agencies, universities, industry, and other national laboratories. Select collaborations are shown below.
Advanced Simulation and Computing Program
The ASC Program integrates the work of Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos, and Sandia national labs with university researchers into a coordinated program administered by NNSA. Under ASC, computer simulations analyze and predict the performance, safety, and reliability of nuclear weapons.
High Performance Software Foundation
Co-founded with the Linux Foundation, the nonprofit HPSF is a neutral hub that supports projects advancing portable, open-source software for diverse hardware. By increasing adoption, aiding community growth, and enabling development efforts, HPSF lowers barriers to use of HPC systems.
Accelerating Therapeutics for Opportunities in Medicine
The Accelerating Therapeutics for Opportunities in Medicine (ATOM) consortium is a public-private partnership with the mission of transforming drug discovery by accelerating the development of more effective therapies for patients. Founding members are GSK, LLNL, Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, and UCSF.
Co-Design with Industry
Co-design brings together vendors, hardware architects, software developers, domain scientists, computer scientists, and applied mathematicians to make decisions about hardware and software components. To ensure that future DOE scientific problems and applications can take advantage of emerging computer architectures, we are engaged in the co-design process.
